James Hardie® understands that homes have varying requirements for siding, especially in terms of energy efficiency. That is why the manufacturer has developed the HardieZone® System, which aims to provide siding materials that are appropriate for your local weather.
So, before you start that vinyl siding installation project, you might want to check the advantages of the HardieZone System and consider it instead. Read on to learn more about the HardieZone System.
What Is the HardieZone® System?
Simply put, the HardieZone System is Engineered for Climate®. Siding materials from this line of products are designed to match a specific local climate. So, whether you live in a region that experiences high humidity or heat or you reside in an area that typically deals with wet and freezing conditions, you can be confident that the HardieZone System will provide products that are suitable for your needs.
HZ5® or HZ10®?
Much like when you’re selecting a new roofing system, you should also pay close attention to the performance of siding materials in your local climate.
The HardieZone System considers eight climatic variables to determine the best siding product for your needs. Furthermore, James Hardie has used these variables in developing 10 distinct climatic zones to categorize various locations and make it easier to figure out the siding appropriate for each zone. For zones one to five, the HZ5® product line is recommended. Meanwhile, for zones 6 to 10, HZ10® is the ideal choice.
HZ5 is intended for climates that experience snow and ice, freezing temperatures and extreme temperature variations. It is made with excellent paint adhesion and moisture resistance. This type of siding also has a drip edge that enables improved water management.
HZ10, on the other hand, is designed for places that experience extreme heat, rain and hurricane-force winds. Its material does a great job of resisting cracks, splits, swelling and rotting.
